Description

Specialized Metal AM Training for Navy Supplier Base

In collaboration with the EOS Additive Minds Academy, this specialized training program is designed to strengthen the capabilities of suppliers supporting the U.S. Navy’s Maritime Industrial Base (MIB). The course equips participants with practical, job-ready skills across the full laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process chain—from data preparation and build setup to hands-on machine operation and ASTM-compliant certification.

By combining self-paced online learning with intensive, in-person system training at the EOS Technical Center in Novi, Michigan, the program ensures that learners not only understand theoretical concepts but also gain the confidence to apply them in real-world defense manufacturing environments.

Participants will:

  • Develop technical proficiency in data preparation tools (EOSPRINT 2 and Materialise Magics) and create production-ready build files.
  • Gain hands-on experience operating EOS M 290 or EOS M 400-4 metal AM systems under the guidance of certified instructors.
  • Learn essential practices in system safety, job monitoring, build breakout, and machine maintenance.
  • Complete a rigorous ASTM PBF-LB Machine Operator certification, ensuring compliance with international standards and readiness to perform in critical defense supply chains.

Graduates of the program receive multiple industry-recognized credentials and return to their organizations prepared to:

  • Support agile, distributed manufacturing for the U.S. Navy.
  • Close workforce skill gaps in additive manufacturing.
  • Improve operational readiness and component availability through certified metal AM expertise.

This program is fully funded for MIB participants, providing $10,000 of training value at no cost, while offering exclusive access to EOS training facilities, expert instructors, and defense-specific learning pathways.
